The HACH HQ1140 is a portable, rugged meter designed for precise conductivity, total dissolved solids (TDS), salinity, and temperature measurements. Featuring the Intellical™ smart electrode with built-in quality assurance, it delivers reliable field and laboratory data for water quality, leachate, and waste stream analysis.

Overview

Our center is equipped with a HACH HQ1140 Portable Conductivity Meter with an Intellical™ Conductivity Electrode. This system combines simple operation with advanced data integrity features, automatically recognizing the electrode and storing calibration records.

The instrument provides rapid, accurate measurements of ionic strength in aqueous samples, making it essential for assessing water purity, monitoring contamination, and characterizing liquid waste streams in environmental and circular economy projects.

What It Measures

The meter measures a solution’s ability to conduct electrical current, a direct indicator of dissolved ions, and automatically calculates related parameters. The integrated temperature sensor ensures all readings are accurately compensated.

 

  • Conductivity Total ionic content in water, leachate, wastewater, and aqueous samples.
  • Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) Estimated mass of dissolved salts and minerals derived from conductivity.
  • Salinity Salt concentration measured on the Practical Salinity Scale.
