Model : Nabertherm LHT/D Series High Temperature Furnace

Determines loss on ignition and ash content accurately.

The Nabertherm LHT/D Series High Temperature Furnace is a precision laboratory muffle furnace designed for ashing, loss on ignition, and high-temperature thermal treatment of samples. It provides exceptional temperature uniformity and control for gravimetric analysis and sample preparation in environmental and waste characterization studies.

Overview

Our center is equipped with a Nabertherm LHT/D Series High Temperature Muffle Furnace, a robust and reliable system for high-temperature applications up to 1200°C. The furnace features precise electronic temperature control and excellent insulation for energy-efficient operation.

The instrument is essential for determining organic matter content, preparing samples for elemental analysis, and conducting thermal treatment processes in support of environmental monitoring, waste characterization, and materials research.

What It Provides

The muffle furnace enables gravimetric determination through controlled high-temperature combustion. Samples are heated to specified temperatures to remove organic matter, moisture, or volatile components, with the residual mass measured before and after the process.

  • Loss on Ignition (LOI) Determination of organic matter and volatile solids content in soil, sediment, sludge, and solid waste samples.
  • Fixed Solids and Ash Content Quantification of the inorganic residue remaining after complete combustion of organic materials.
  • Volatile Solids Measurement of the volatile fraction in biosolids, compost, and organic waste materials.

Key Applications

The muffle furnace supports waste characterization, environmental assessment, and circular economy applications through reliable high-temperature thermal analysis.

  • Waste Characterization Determines organic and inorganic fractions in municipal solid waste for disposal and treatment decisions.
  • Sludge and Biosolids Analysis Measures volatile solids content in wastewater treatment sludge to assess stability and treatment efficiency.
  • Soil Quality Assessment Quantifies organic matter content in soil samples for agricultural and remediation studies.
  • Compost Maturity Testing Evaluates organic matter decomposition and stability in compost and organic fertilizers.
  • Coal and Biomass Analysis Determines ash content and volatile matter in solid fuels and biomass for energy recovery applications.
  • Circular Economy Support Characterizes residual materials and by-products to assess suitability for recycling, reuse, or energy recovery.

All devices are operated within standardized laboratory workflows to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance with analytical standards.
