Model : Axis ATS-120

Fast, accurate moisture analysis for waste and biomass.

The Axis ATS-120 is a precision moisture analyzer balance that combines high-accuracy weighing with controlled halogen heating to determine moisture content in a wide range of samples. It delivers fast, reliable results for quality control, process monitoring, and waste characterization applications.

Overview

Our center is equipped with an Axis ATS-120 Moisture Analyzer Balance, a compact and efficient instrument for thermogravimetric moisture determination. The system operates on the loss-on-drying principle, where a sample is heated by an integrated halogen lamp and the weight loss is continuously recorded until a stable endpoint is reached.

The instrument provides rapid and accurate moisture content results without the need for lengthy oven-drying procedures, making it ideal for routine analysis of solid waste, biomass, sludge, and raw materials in support of waste management and circular economy initiatives.

What It Measures

The moisture analyzer determines the moisture content of a sample by measuring weight loss during controlled heating. Results are expressed as a percentage of the original sample weight, with analysis times typically ranging from a few minutes to complete.

  • Moisture Content Direct measurement of total moisture in solid waste, sludge, biomass, compost, and other solid matrices.
  • Total Solids Determination of the dry matter content as the complement of moisture, expressed as a percentage of total sample weight.
  • Dry Weight Basis Provides the dry weight reference for consistent reporting of elemental and chemical analytical results.

Key Applications

The moisture analyzer supports waste characterization, process optimization, and quality control through rapid and accurate moisture determination.

  • Solid Waste Characterization Determines moisture content in municipal solid waste to assess handling properties and calorific value.
  • Sludge and Biosolids Analysis Measures moisture levels in wastewater treatment sludge for transport, disposal, and beneficial use planning.
  • Compost Quality Control Monitors moisture content to ensure optimal conditions for biological activity and product stability.
  • Biomass and Biofuel Assessment Quantifies moisture in biomass feedstocks and refuse-derived fuel to evaluate energy recovery potential.
  • Raw Material Testing Verifies moisture specifications in incoming materials and industrial by-products prior to processing.
  • Circular Economy Support Characterizes moisture levels in recyclable materials and residues to optimize reuse and recovery strategies.

All devices are operated within standardized laboratory workflows to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance with analytical standards.
