Model : Retsch SM 100
Efficient size reduction and homogenization of solid waste materials.
The Retsch SM 100 is a robust cutting mill engineered for coarse and fine grinding of soft to medium‑hard, fibrous, and tough samples. It delivers rapid, reproducible comminution for a wide range of materials in environmental, agricultural, and waste processing laboratories.
Our center is equipped with a Retsch SM 100 Cutting Mill, a versatile grinder that operates on the principle of cutting and shearing between parallel knives. Material is fed via a large hopper and size‑reduced until it passes through an interchangeable bottom sieve, ensuring a consistent particle size from a few millimeters down to sub‑millimeter range.
This mill is essential for preparing representative test portions from bulky solid waste, biomass, compost, plastics, and other heterogeneous materials prior to chemical analysis, leaching tests, or further processing, supporting accurate waste characterization and circular economy assessments.
The cutting mill does not measure analytes; it converts irregular bulk samples into uniform, homogeneous powders or chips suitable for representative subsampling and analytical testing. Its controlled grinding ensures sample integrity without thermal degradation.
The cutting mill provides essential sample preparation for waste characterization, biomass analysis, and material testing.
